Music

The Music Department is dedicated to music’s intrinsic value as a creative art and its potential to develop language, memory and self-discipline. The program focuses on quality music-making and instilling a lifelong appreciation for music and the arts in all of its students. Instruction spans instrumental and vocal music. Classes emphasize group performance — concert, chamber, ensemble, jazz band, etc. — while also encouraging students to develop their individual talents and styles. Musical groups perform at school and community events and support Pilgrim sports teams with pep and marching bands.

Music Education Mission Statement

As music is an essential component of man’s nature, the mission of the music curriculum is to enable and fully develop in all students the ability to appreciate, perform, create, and respond to the aesthetic qualities of music, enhancing the students’ quality of life by making music a lifelong experience.
