robotics team

We want to congratulate The Advanced Robotics Teams for their performances this past weekend!

Both teams competed at the second qualifying event, which was held at Mt. Saint Charles in hopes of making a bid for the FIRST FTC State Robotics Tournament coming up on February 10th at New England Tech.

Team 8129 The Sons of Liberty placed 4th and Team 24348 Pilgrim 1 placed 5th in the preliminary rounds of the competition.  The 4th place team from the preliminaries was able to qualify for the finals and selected their fellow team Pilgrim 1 to compete with them.   It’s rare for two teams from the same school to compete.

They won their first series 2-1 and were able to compete in the finals match losing that in a 3-game series 2-1.  The scores in these final matches were very close!  They won the first match by 20 points and lost the next 2 by only 9 and 12 points.

This would not have been possible without the support of their teachers who allowed students to work up until the last moment to prepare for competition. Some of the students put in three 12-hour days and two 8-hour days during exams…Now that is dedication!

Throughout the year these students meet with mentors in industry.  Fortunately, the Robotics Team has produced a large number of Engineers.  We have had the privilege of having 3 of them return to give back, by mentoring the teams every Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 pm.

These students had to meet real deadlines with a functional mechanical product without any extensions!

Team Representatives include; Ryan Barlow, John Maguire, Devin Stevens, John Kelly, Colin O’dea, Christian Sevilla, Kelvin Olea, Harry Solares, Noah Kenney, Jayden Dimauro, and Aiden Deal.
