Pilgrim High School families,
Thank you for reading this important information regarding a school event which will take place on Monday, May 19, 2025.
In anticipation of and in order to further prepare our LifeSaver 3 CTE students for their EMT exam, we will hold a simulated, mass casualty event on our baseball field. We will have face and body paint of simulated injuries and many LifeSaver 1 and 2 students will play different roles as 25 injured patients . We will have a Warwick Rescue vehicle and Warwick Fire Truck here as part of the simulation.
This event will take place around 9 am. Each of our LifeSaver 3 students will enter the baseball field and have to make split-second decisions, all while being followed by trained EMTs and Firefighters to give feedback afterwards.
Huge thank you to Lisa Tamburini, our LifeSaver EMT CTE classroom teacher, Julie B Malloy, RN, Lifesaver 3 instructor, Jim Richard, IC, of the Rhode Island Community Training Center, Warwick Fire Department for their support and coordination of this event along with the training and expertise they have given to our students throughout the year, and the RI Army National Guard for the donation of triage supplies and equipment.
Additionally, our Studio 107 CTE students will be out videoing and capturing the event like TV journalists. The hope is to use this footage to create a promotional video for both CTE programs.
We just wanted to inform you of this event and note that it is all staged. It will be a wonderful teaching and learning opportunity for our students.
