What's new

As we enter the final days of the 2024-2025 year (only 20 to go, to be exact!), parents and guardians may have questions or be eager to participate in supporting a solid and strong finish to their child's year.

1.) Members of the Warwick Neck School Improvement Team proposed sending out an "At-A-Glance" Communication Guide of various ways to connect with or contact your child's teaching team. On it, you'll find titles/roles, email information, and even if the educator uses the REMIND texting app for smart devices. You can view the "At-A-Glance" Communication Guide here.

2.) Members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and its Executive Board, were instrumental in bringing a landscaping company to weed, garden, and mulch the front of our school today. Beautiful hanging potted plants and a fresh look undoubtedly will welcome our newest Kindergarten class for Orientation on Wednesday, May 21st! Thank you to Mattzer Landscapting Inc. of Warwick -- and our PTA -- for making our school look so great!

3.) The 5th Grade Committee, as part of the PTA, raised over $10,000 for our graduating 5th grade class through a pancake breakfast at Applebees, a highly-successful calendar raffle, and more! This allowed for an educational trip to Gillette Stadium, lunch at Red Robin that day, and a special class field day to be held in June.

Additionally -- the 5th Grade Committee is funding the annual class gift to the school: a 'freshening up" with painting of the blacktop behind the school with new four-square courts, recreational areas, basketball court lines, and more for recess purposes! They are also using funds to 'spruce up' the school's community garden off the playground with new mulch, hay, plants, gardening tools, and a new hose with a sprinkler timer to ensure garden health over the summer! Thank you to our 5th Grade Committee for all of their efforts!

4.) The Student Council, composed of students in Grade 4 & 5 who visit classrooms and gauge feedback from kids around the school, has been hard at work suggesting ways to enhance the end of the year. This includes an ice-cold lemonade truck (with various flavors) next Friday, May 30th (funded with thanks to the PTA) and suggestions for Mr. Galligan to go back into the Dunk Tank, in front of the whole school, if certain educational goals are met. The kids have more in mind before the last day, so stay tuned!

5.) Grades 3 & 5 are now full for next year at Warwick Neck -- with quite a few grade-levels not too far behind the agreed upon capacity limits (Capacities are 22 children in each K classroom, and 26 in each classroom for Grades 1-5). This includes recent enrollments to us from area private and parochial schools, in addition to waivers from around the city. Undoubtedly, we are appreciative to our faculty, staff, PTA, and community members who help to keep the Warwick Neck School mission, vision, and experience going strong.

6.) This Thursday evening, May 22nd, is looking soggy and rainy. Cheer yourself up by attending the 2nd Annual All-City Concert, which features our very own student chorus under the direction of our music and choral teacher, Mrs. Kristy Procaccianti! Warwick Neck joins with multiple schools across Warwick to bring the enjoyment of songs and performance to families at 7PM in the Pilgrim High School Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. (Please note student performers should arrive no later than 6:15 PM).

7.) Don't miss out on the year-end excitement!! This is an additional reminder here to ensure you've registered and received your BCI-check if you can volunteer at our school's Field Day on Fri., June 6th, the 5th Grade Class Field Day, or one of the upcoming field trips!

What brought about much of the above!?

Warwick Neck features a School Improvement Team that meets regularly throughout the year. This committee, composed of faculty, staff, parents, and community partners, convenes regularly to advise the Principal and School Leadership Team on matters of importance to live out the mission of and help to advance Warwick Neck Elementary. Data from state standardized tests, Survey Works, and general feedback are all taken into consideration.

Additionally, Warwick Neck Elementary is very proud to once again be a candidate for the National PTA School of Excellence Designation (already received by our school in 2022). This award is given after a period of self-study that includes gathering and reviewing data from a survey sent out to all Warwick Neck families in November, 2024.

Have questions about any of the above information!? Reach out to our principal, Mr. Galligan, via email here anytime!
